RANK TESTING
A student's rank is recognized by the color of his/her belt. A belt rank
evaluation is based upon attendance, general knowledge, basic
techniques (i.e. blocking, striking, kicking), forms (poomse), breaking
technique, sparring (when applicable) one steps, spirit attitude, and
dojang etiquette. Testing has a physical and a verbal component.
During the physical component of the rank test a student's skill,
technique, attitude, motivation and endurance are evaluated. The
verbal portion of the test will cover the F.C.T. student creed and
elements from the shout out sheet. (i.e. Students should be familiar
enough with the tenants of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance,
Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit, to tell in their own words what they
mean.)
Testing cycles are held approximately every two months. Students will
typically test every other testing cycle (every 4 months) in order to give
all students an adequate opportunity to develop their skill and
technique to a level required for rank promotion.
TESTING CRITERIA
Final decision for testing eligibility are determined by the
Chief Instructor and testing officers only. Students will be
eligible for testing every other cycle. Students are
responsible for their own attendance and attitude. A
minimum of 30 classes between cycles is mandatory for
testing. Each student should come to every class prepared
to give 100% and demonstrate a positive attitude. In
addition to class workouts every student is responsible to
practice their curriculum at home in order to be ready to
test.

Beginning Belt Level: White-Orange Belt with
Green Stripe
Students at the beginning level of Taekwondo are required to
know their curriculum. They must demonstrate knowledge of the
steps of their poomse with little hesitation or forethought.
Students must also be able to demonstrate their one-steps and
possibly break a board before testing. Finally, beginning level
students must demonstrate all basic Kicks and blocks and basic
self-defense moves in order to be eligible for promotion.

Intermediate Color-Belt Level: Green Belt-
Blue Belt with Brown Stripe
The green belt signifies a new level of training for the student/ At
this level, the student is expected to start demonstrating their
techniques more smoothly and proficiently -- simply moving
through the steps is not sufficient for promotion. In addition,
attitude, motivation and role modeling are given more
consideration before advancement. As a result of the increased
expectation at this level, students are eligible for testing every
other cycle (approximately every 4 months).

Advanced Color-Belt Levels: Brown Belt-Black
belt with White Stripe (Nominal Black Belt)
In addition to the testing requirements expected  from the
beginning and intermediate level, Students testing for green belt
and above are required to demonstrate more advanced skill and
technique withe their Taekwondo curriculum. The advanced
color-belt student should not only show knowledge of all required
poomses, one-steps, and basic kicks, and blocks, but should
also
perform technique with accuracy, timing and power.
Student attitude is also considered to determine testing
readiness.
The instructors and testing staff consider all aspects of
Taekwondo attitude when making decisions for rank promotion.
Every advanced color-belt student is expected to not only know,
but show, Courtesy, Integrity. Perseverance, Self-Control and
Indomitable spirit while in and out of the dojang. Motivation is also
a crucial characteristic for the Taekwondo student to
demonstrate, 100% effort is required at all times during classes
and sparring.
